There’s nothing quite like the roar of a powerful Ferrari, unless of course, there is no roar. Despite some sites have claimed that there absolutely, positively, definitely is not an all-electric mode in the Ferrari LaFerrari, this very quiet video seems to prove just the opposite.
Listen carefully and, yeah, you don’t hear a thing as the Ferrari heads out for a drive. It’s completely silent, which has to mean we’re looking at the car running under electric power only. You cannot hear it several times in the video, but the most telling is when it pulls out of a garage and out onto the street.
As soon as the car is out of sight, you can hear the engine roar, which makes it seems like the second you give it gas there simply isn’t enough power to keep it rolling in electric. Perhaps that’s why Ferrari denied the existence of an all-electric mode. If it only works at ridiculously low speeds, then maybe they thought it just wasn’t worth mentioning.
It also makes you wonder where they hid the button to turn on this mode, since, as Jalopnikpoints out, the journalists who drove it didn’t report seeing one anywhere. There’s also the chance they were all just too dumb struck at the chance behind the wheel of this amazing car that even if it had been a giant, red, blinking button they still wouldn’t have noticed.
